WHAT IS NEURO-LINGUISTIC PROGRAMMING?

NLP is a science developed in the early 70’s, by Richard Bandler, a student of psychology, and John Grinder, a Professor of Linguistics at the University of California, Santa Cruz.

They studied three top therapists Fritz Perls, originator of Gestalt Therapy, Virginia Satir, innovative Family Therapist, and Dr. Milton Erickson, world famous Hypnotherapist.

Their goal was to find out how they produced such excellent results and create a model out of it so the excellence could be replicated.

Since then, many others have contributed to the growth and development of the field, but this is where the field of Neuro-Linguistic Programming originated.

From these models came a host of techniques for accelerating human change by changing thought patterns, strategies, beliefs and decisions that previously may have been limiting.

NLP is the study of the brain (Neuro) how we use language internally and externally (Linguistic) to produce specific behaviours (Programs).

NLP is a collection of beliefs which leave behind a trail of
techniques and processes.

What are the beliefs of NLP?

The Law of Requisite Variety - the system/person with the most flexibility of behaviour will control the system.

“The universe is change; our lives are what our thoughts make it.”
